The new Sea Sprite Hotel in Hermosa Beach was just awarded an inaugural beautification award!
The Sea Sprite Hotel has been a popular spot for tourists just steps from the sand since it opened in 1960. But recently, this nostalgia-filled hotel received an award that will help them stay relevant as they renovations are completed and modernize their facilities!
The new Mayor’s Beautification Award is part of Hermosa Beach’s Economic Development Strategy which aims to focus on improving quality life while also enhancing economic stability within our community.
The Sea Sprite is a classic Los Angeles beach landmark, with its neon sign casting an oversized shadow over the sand. In 2018 Wilshire Capital Partners bought this property and gave it new life as they renovated all three buildings – including adding ADA-compliant features such as wheelchair accessibility in some rooms!
What’s coming next? In August 2020, renovations will finally be complete! As informed , they put in new plumbing and also removed the full kitchen in each room – replacing it with a suite that includes an eating area as well. The floors & bathrooms were renovated too: we’ve seen some fantastic results from these updates so far…
Hermosa Beach Economic Development
The city’s Economic Development Strategy was created over two years — with help from an advisory working group and the committee on economic development—and focuses primarily on “30 strategic actions,” including beatification codes changes that will encourage success among business partners.
The Sea Sprite Hotel is an excellent example of how these beautification codes can be used to improve the city’s infrastructure. The renovations are almost complete, and we cannot wait to experience this classic Los Angeles landmark in all its newly-renovated glory!
