I received a message on Instagram from Shima Razipour. She wondered if I could stop by her family restaurant in Torrance. Seaside Palace Restaurant is on Sepulveda, a block away from Hawthorne Boulevard in Torrance.
This family owned restaurant opened in 1995 and has been in the same location ever since. There are three brothers that own and operate this location. Fatemeh, mother of Shima, works there full time. She is a pleasant woman that makes you feel like family from the time you enter until you leave the restaurant. Many of the patrons knew her by her first name as they spoke with her. It seems that they’ve established themselves in a traditional way as opposed to mainstream marketing. They are involved in the community and have established their business by a referral base and maintaining long term relationships with their patrons.
Seaside Palace Restaurant is specializing in Persian cuisine. Among their many dishes is beef koobideh, which is one of their most popular. Their kebabs are char broiled over flames while all entrees are health consciously prepared. Crispy rice is a different dish, speaking of rice they offer fifteen different kinds of rice. Many of their dishes can be customized so if you are particular in what you eat, they can work with you.
A popular misconception is that Persian food is similar to Indian food, however that is not the case. Spices make the dishes more flavorful and the spices are like no other foods. Shima mentioned that many people come from all over Los Angeles. Customers have mentioned that it’s homemade and comfort food that they gravitate towards. Check out an episode of the “Shahs of Sunset” season 7, where one episode was filmed at this restaurant.
If you are looking to throw a party, they can accommodate. They have hosted parties for Wedding, Bat Mitzvah, Quinceanera, Graduation and more. With live music and belly dancer it’s sure to be a fun night.
