Eric: All right. Welcome everybody. I have Ruby Qazi from Luminous Nail Bar. She has a wonderful nail bar in Cerritos. Ruby, welcome.
Ruby: Hi, everyone. Thanks for having me, Eric.
Eric: Thank you. So I wanted to kind of shine some light on your business because you have a business in Cerritos and your brother has an auto repair shop, I believe in Torrance, right?
Ruby: Yeah, actually so my dad has a repair shop and my brother works with him.
Eric: Okay. And that’s in Torrance?
Ruby: Yes in Torrance.
Eric: Okay. That’s how you reached out to me from, for the South Bay. So I wanted to kinda get you some exposure, get you to talk about your nail business today. And first of all, how did you get into this?
Ruby: Actually, so I am a wedding planner and after a few years of doing that we were looking to expand and do something more. So with the nail business and wedding planning, both are really high stress level businesses, but it’s the result that drives us. So the customer, the client, whether it’s a bride or, you know, just a normal everyday person. Once they leave with my services, they’re always really happy and they feel refreshed. And for me that, you know, that’s my goal. That’s what I work. So it’s a lot of stress, but the result is definitely totally worth it.
Eric: Good. Are you still in the wedding business?
Ruby: Yeah so my business is still open, but because of COVID with the nail business and wedding planning both are kind of at a standstill
Eric: I can imagine event planning these days. It’s, struggling due to, COVID obviously. It’s an industry that got hit pretty hard.
Ruby: But hopefully we can start moving forward really soon.
Eric: I used to, when you said wedding planning, I used to be a jewelry designer. So I used to design wedding bands, engagement rings, and things like that. I would go to bridal shows. And so at the convention you have your limo guy, your tuxedo, and I was the wedding ring guy. There was the, the ladies I’m generalizing, but generally the ladies were like really excited to be there. Really stopping at every booth asking a hundred questions. And the guys were like, this is crazy, you know? It’s football season. I want to watch my football team type of a type of a thing. So it can be a stressful industry for sure. What makes your salon unique?
Ruby: Okay. So like I said, our whole goal and our purpose is to make people feel comfortable and relaxed. While of course we’re providing them with the service. There aren’t very many nail salons that you could walk into that you could say, okay, I’m going here to relax. For some quiet time while of course I’m beautifying my nails or getting a facial or any other service. So the most unique thing about us is that it is a quiet space. It’s somewhere that you can come through relaxed. It’s really pretty, really clean all the time. Even before COVID, everything is really clean all the time. We actually, in our reviews, people say that like oh we came to do our nails, but we got to completely relax and recharged before we’re going back to our normal lives.
Eric: Nice, and people need that these days. Yeah good. And do you accept clients due to COVID? Do you accept walk-ins or do they make an appointment?
Ruby: No right now, everything is by appointment and all of our appointments are booked through our website, which is luminousnailbar.com. It’s really easy to book and you’re able to cancel, reschedule really easily just through our website.
Eric: Okay. So I was on your Yelp page. You have over 400 reviews, Bravo to that! That’s unbelievable. And you have literally like 44 or so services that you offer. So if you were to give us like some of your specialty services that you offer. I don’t want you to get, get into off, you know, 44 50, give me an, give us an idea. Like, what are you known for? What are your specialties? As far as your services go.
Ruby: Okay. So we are, our name is luminous nail bar. So everything nails we do. Lots of people come to us for, acrylics and gel X with design. So like fancier nails, but also, what we would say a more basic services. Like a pedicure, but then you’re getting to sit in a massage chair and, you know, you’re getting your nails done, but your feet massage. So it’s the relaxing experience again. And then we also do lashes, facials, waxing. So it’s a one stop shop. That’s why, there are so many options to choose from as far as packaging, we do a lot.
Eric: Gotcha. Yeah, you, you seem to cover a lot and it seems like you have a lot of people that are happy with your service. So that’s a good combination, but in any business and especially these days with COVID, it’s good to make sure that everybody’s happy. And you’re not just doing one thing and that’s it.
